Experience

Jeremy Bartelt is a Sioux City, Iowa based audio engineer, music/audiobook producer, voice artist, sound designer, and composer. He brings a lifetime of classical music study (bass trombone, piano, voice) to his over 25 years of audio engineering and teaching.

He now runs his own freelance audio business, 2219 Sound, which is built on experience in many different cities and venues with many different genres and projects. It is also built on a passion for independent and underground projects to receive professional treatment and see a public release. Plus, in addition to his own career, Jeremy has mentored many students and bands to future success in their careers, through his 15 years of high school and college teaching.

Jeremy has worked with major music labels, large production companies, national audiobook producers, and independent musicians. Whether it is producing in million-dollar studios with endless resources or in a home studio with, well, not endless resources, Jeremy has the expertise and experience to bring almost any audio project to life, no matter how big or small.

Performance to Recording

Jeremy studied classical vocal, piano, and brass music his whole childhood. In college, he pursued his life goal of being a professional musician and did become the bass trombonist for the UW-Madison Symphony Orchestra. However, soon after finishing a stint at the Aspen Music Festival, he decided his job recording concerts and recitals in the UW-Madison School of Music Recording Studio was his true calling.

After graduating from UW-Madison and FullSail University, he moved to Chicago and worked at Chicago Recording Company, Streeterville Studios, & Colossal Mastering. A move to the Twin Cities started Jeremy’s career in music production education where he was Audio Engineering Program Chair and Instructor at The Institute of & Production & Recording. Jeremy then started a Career Development Music Production Program in ISD196 in the Twin Cities suburbs. This job allowed him to teach music production, live sound production, sound for picture, and music business to aspiring high school students. Plus, it allowed Jeremy to engineer and produce many young artists in his free time.

After moving to Sioux City, Jeremy started 2219 Sound and, while continuing to work on music projects for clients, quickly found himself working in the audiobook production industry as everything from narrator to sound designer to mastering engineer. This has taken 2219 Sound into a new realm of audio production and broadcast/streaming standards!

Jeremy also continues his own music projects (experimentations) under the moniker J. MacArthur and Crepuscule Disquietude.
